Accounting Systems Lead & CFO
As CFO and the Accounting Systems Lead for Stewart, Tara Morgan Schinkel ensures that clients’ accounting applications are working for them – not the other way around. She joined the company more than 25 years ago as a tech consultant and was quickly hooked on the problem-solving, business consulting, and ERP and accounting system optimizations that filled her days. Now, she is a co-owner, expert project manager, and practiced translator for clients, their accounting teams, and their systems. She brings optimistic analysis and experience from working with hundreds of businesses to every client engagement.
Tara holds a B.S. in Accounting and Computer Science from University of Maryland, and is a licensed CPA. Away from work, she spends as much time as possible with her three kids, enjoying their sporting events, hiking, or doing anything outside. In a previous life, Tara was a Field Hockey coach for GORC in Odenton, MD and co-founder of the National Field Hockey League.

Who’s your hero?
“My dad, Rick Morgan – bar none. The man is amazing. He has been my mentor for most of my professional career and especially when I stepped into the role of CFO at Stewart.”
What inspires you?
The underdog. People overcoming the odds to be successful … and who care about and give back to others. Plus my family and fellow co-workers are a huge source of inspiration for me. They are the reason I get up every day, work as hard as I do, and try to be the absolute best version of me I can be. I always want to “Be the Exception” just for them.
What is your superpower?
Project management – being able to see the work, and really the entire process, and then figure out how to get it done, with delegation, of course! Our firm has taken on huge projects that other firms avoid (and that no one thinks we can do), and not only do we get the work done, but we kill it.
